The start relay boosts the compressor, and then shuts off as soon as the motor gets up to speed. The overload provides extra protection against excessive temperatures. If your refrigerator or freezer is too warm or won’t turn on at all, replacing this assembly may alleviate these issues. You will need advanced mechanical training to make this repair.
